Acupuncture is an essential component of Traditional Chinese/Oriental Medicine that works with the natural energy system of the body to promote the body's ability to heal itself. The Chinese believe this vital energy, "Qi", is behind all life forms and processes. This energy flows along meridians, or pathways, and each meridian is associated with a particular physiological system and internal organ. TCM/OM is a comprehensive health care system using acupuncture, herbs, bodywork, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle changes. It uses tongue and pulse checks, medical history and other signs and symptoms to create a composite TCM/OM diagnosis from which a treatment plan is formulated.

Mary E.K. Denison is a licensed acupuncturist and has a Master's Degree in Oriental Medicine; Acupuncture, classic Chinese herbal formulas, Gua Sha, Moxa, etc. She has been a massage therapist and foot reflexologist for over 20 years, and may incorporate any of these techniques with her acupuncture treatments, as needed. This may include acupressure and/or trigger point work. Deep tissue, Swedish massage, and/or Foot reflexology are available as separate entities, also.

Please support acupuncturists who have passed the national exam given by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The NCCAOM holds acupuncturists to high standards demanding certain criteria to be met before they are allowed to take the exam, and requires them to continue with advanced education in order to remain certified with them. This certification is a requirement by the State of MN for licensed acupuncturists. Medical doctors and chiropractors are not required by law to take this exam even though they practice a different medicine; thus, they may not have had complete training, nor have continued with advanced education.

By appointment only, times negotiable. Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVAs) will be billed to your car insurance when there is a written doctor's referral, at the CPT code rates. Cash fees are due at time of service: 15 min./$15.30 (chair massage), 1/2 hr./$35.70, 1 hr./$61.20, 1.5 hrs./$86.70, 2 hrs = $117.30. First visit Acupuncture = 1.5-2 hrs. Cosmetic Acupuncture is not discounted (please check out the link - www.mitziom.byregion.net.) I am not wheelchair accessible, and you must be able to walk a flight of stairs. Surcharge for housecalls of $40.00 within 7 miles of my office. Mileage over 7 miles is charged $.65 per mile, round trip. Housecalls are not discounted. Billed fees are at $18.00/15/minutes/modality. May charge for phone consults that run more than 10 minutes.

ACUPUNCTURE FOR SMOKING AND EATING DISORDERS. To make a change in your habit, a minimum of 10, once per week sessions is suggested, initially. More can be added for maintenance. Total cost for the first 10 sessions is $350.00, additional sessions = $45.00 per session. Payments are due at time of service. NADA protocol used (ear acupuncture). Group sessions are available, if requested. Group sessions can offer you support and encouragement when coming with your friends, coworkers, and/or family members. Non-verbal settings - patients do not share information with each other and all are asked to refrain from speaking once needles are in (movement can cause needles to fall out). This is not psychotherapy nor 12-step work. Patients are encouraged to seek additional support while using the acupuncture treatments. The six healing sounds for Yin organs will be shown so that you can use this meditation to relax, heal your inner organs, and release stress. Mary will present them in a group setting at the office or at your place of business. Participants must be able to do range of motion with their arms and neck, and be able to lie on the floor (only one is done in a lying position). If you have breathing difficulties, please consult your doctor, though these exercises should not cause you harm in breathing, but may actually help. These should not be done on a full stomach.
